WHO WE ARE
The People's Medic (TPM) is a registered Nevada Domestic Nonprofit Corporation
TPM is a volunteer-led community organization founded and operated by licensed healthcare professionals, including a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP). Our mission is to provide safety through first aid, education, and raising awareness for the community.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you interact with TPM through our website, events, volunteer applications, or donation forms, we may collect the following: Full name, email address, and phone number. City and state of residence. Professional license numbers and state of licensure (licensed volunteers only). Donation amounts and payment information (processed securely through third-party processors). Voluntarily submitted health or accessibility information for event participation. We do not collect sensitive personal health records, medical histories, or any Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined under HIPPA.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
TPM uses collected information solely for the following purposes: Communicating about events, programs, and volunteer opportunities. Verifying professional credentials of licensed volunteers. Processing donations and issuing tax-deductible receipts. Fulfilling nonprofit reporting and compliance requirementsImproving our programs and community outreach. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for commercial or marketing purposes, ever.
HIPAA NOTICE & HEALTH INFORMATION DISCLAIMER
While TPM is led by licensed healthcare professionals, TPM is not a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as it does not provide clinical treatment, maintain patient records, or engage in healthcare transactions as defined by federal law.However, TPM voluntarily upholds the spirit of HIPAA by committing to the following: No Protected Health Information (PHI) is collected, stored, or transmitted through TPM's programs or website. No patient-provider relationship is created through participation in TPM events or programs. Any health-related information shared voluntarily by community members during outreach is treated with strict confidentiality and is never recorded, stored, or disclosed. Licensed professionals volunteering with TPM do not provide diagnosis, treatment, or clinical advice in their TPM capacity
SCOPE OF PRACTICE DISCLAIMER
TPM provides community education, basic first aid support, emergency preparedness training, and resource distribution only. TPM does not provide advanced medical care, clinical treatment, medical diagnosis, or prescriptions of any kind. All licensed healthcare professionals, including RNs and NPs, who volunteer with TPM operate strictly within their individual scope of practice as defined by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and applicable Nevada law. Their participation as TPM volunteers does not constitute the practice of medicine or the establishment of a clinical provider-patient relationship. TPM is not a substitute for emergency medical services. In the event of a medical emergency, always call 911.
NONPROFIT DISCLOSURE
The People's Medic is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All qualifying donations made to TPM are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. TPM does not distribute profits to individuals and operates exclusively for charitable, educational, and community benefit purposes. Entity Name: The People's Medic. Entity Type: Domestic Nonprofit Corporation (NRS 82), State of Nevada. Donors will receive a receipt confirming their contribution for tax purposes upon request.
LIABILITY & GOOD SAMARITAN PROTECTION
Participation in TPM events and programs is entirely voluntary. By participating, attendees acknowledge that community events may involve inherent risks.To the fullest extent permitted by Nevada law, including the Nevada Good Samaritan Law (NRS 41.500), TPM, its Board of Directors, officers, licensed volunteers, and general volunteers are released from liability for injury or damages arising from good-faith educational and basic support activities conducted within their scope of training and licensure. TPM volunteers providing basic first aid assistance in good faith are protected under Nevada's Good Samaritan statute.
DATA SECURITY
TPM takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. All donation transactions are processed through encrypted, PCI-compliant third-party payment platforms. TPM does not store payment card information.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to: Request access to the personal information TPM holds about you. Request correction of inaccurate information. Request deletion of your personal data.
